Wide Receivers/Tight Ends: B+

The best position on the field for the Eagles this season has been at tight end. Zach Ertz has proved himself to be an elite tight end in this league. He leads all NFL tight ends in receptions and receiving yards. His fellow tight end, rookie Dallas Goedert, has emerged as another dangerous threat on this Eagles offense. Ertz and Goedert are both tied for second on the team with three touchdown receptions apiece.

Continuing with the good, we’ll go to the leader in touchdown receptions: Alshon Jeffery. Jeffery has four touchdown grabs in only five games played this season. He was clearly missed by this offense when he was recovering from offseason shoulder surgery.

The second leading receiver on the team is Nelson Agholor. While his yardage stats are similar to last season, his inability to take a larger part in the offense has hurt the Eagles. With Jeffery and Mike Wallace out, Agholor wasn’t able to fill the void like many people anticipated. He only has one touchdown all season, which is a far way off from the eight he had last year.

A surprise to this offense was the return of Jordan Matthews. His 200 yards receiving won’t jump off the page, but his return has added some much needed depth to the lineup.

Offensive Line: D-

One of the staples of last seasons Super Bowl winning team was the quality of the offensive line. Even without future Hall of Famer Jason Peters the Eagles were able to have arguably the best group of lineman in the NFL. This year has been much different.

The group of Peters, Stefen Wisniewski, Jason Kelce, Brandon Brooks and Lane Johnson have not gelled at all this season. The Eagles have given up 26 sacks this year. That is the fifth most in the NFL. Last year’s unit only gave up 36 sacks all season. After four games Wisniewski was replaced in the starting lineup by Isaac Seumalo in hopes to shake up the group to move things in the right direction. That has not happened.

Furthermore, the Eagles rank 20th in the NFL in rushing yards per attempt. Clearly the O-line hasn’t been able to run block or pass block to the best of their ability. They have been the Achilles heel for this offense and need to wake up for the Eagles to succeed.
