Shaquill Griffin

Stopping the Rams air attack is going to be a huge key to winning the upcoming game. Granted that can be said about any game, but the defense needs to be allowed to focus on Todd Gurley, who is the biggest threat.

Griffin will be facing arguably the greatest trio of wide receivers in the NFL: Brandin Cooks, Cooper Kupp and Robert Woods. This will be an astronomical challenge for Griffin and the Seahawks secondary which struggled in coverage against Keenan Allen last week.

While the whole secondary needs to play their best game, I’m singling out Griffin because he’s generally viewed as the team’s top cornerback. He also needs to up his production. This season he has just two interceptions and four passes defensed. That’s not bad, but he should have more for as much as he’s being targeted. Also, those two interceptions came in the same game back in Week 2.

The Seahawks rank sixth in pass defense, which attests to how well the secondary as a whole has been playing. The team also ranks fourth in total points allowed. There’s a lot of potential in the back half of the Seahawks defense, but it feels like there needs to be more of a spark during games. I’m looking for a game changing play out of Griffin this week, hopefully an interception, that will give the Seahawks an edge.
