Quarterbacks

Josh Allen vs. New York Jets

2018 Stats: 101-of-191, 1,223 yards, 5 TD, 7 INT
ESPN Ownership: 3.7 percent

2018 has taken us to some dark places within the fantasy football realm, yet I did not foresee the day I put Josh Allen in this column. As a whole, Allen’s rookie campaign has been far from ideal in both passing the eye-test and putting up the proper numbers. Yet his last two weeks have been impressive, scoring 27 and 32 points against Jacksonville and Miami, two respectable at worst defenses.

More from NFL Spin Zone

Week 14 sees Allen and the Buffalo Bills play host to a Jets defense that has allowed a minimum of 24 points to opponents in their last eight of nine games. With no prominent pass rush (25 sacks on the season, 26th in the league) and Allen’s ability to create plays with his legs, it’s not crazy to think Allen could replicate his last two statistical outings against a Jets defense that allowed Matt Barkley to drop 41 points the last time these two teams met.

Lamar Jackson at Kansas City

2018 Stats: 46-of-77 attempts, 540 yards, 2 TD, 3 INT, 82 rushing attempts, 404 yards, 3 TD
ESPN Ownership: 51.5 percent

I’ll double down on rookies and ride the red-hot Lamar Jackson hype train into week 14. One of the few knocks on Jackson’s game can be found in his accuracy throwing the ball. Yet when you have the closest thing we may get to Michael Vick in terms of rushing the ball, you can throw passing out the window. Jackson has averaged nearly 18 fantasy points in his three starts, which is especially exciting since he’s yet to reach his potential as a quarterback.

With Joe Flacco reportedly ready to go for Week 14, a huge decision looms for Ravens coach John Harbaugh in terms of naming a starter for the rest of the way. Jackson has taken Baltimore’s offense to new levels, and is likely to be named the starter thanks to his efforts. Should he get the nod for Week 14, a Kansas City defense that ranks second to last in total defense awaits Jackson in a game that could see his best numbers yet.
