Round 1: DK Metcalf, WR, Ole Miss

There’s no question at all that the Colts have a receiver that is immensely talented and that has a tremendous rapport with Andrew Luck when it comes to TY Hilton. The wideout has proven that, when Luck is healthy, he can be a No. 1 receiver in terms of the way that he can produce, which is good for the offense moving forward, without question.

Having said that, the rest of the wide receiver corps around Hilton leaves a lot to be desired. Yes, Luck was able to milk production out of the likes of Dontrelle Inman, Chester Rogers and even Zach Pascal. However, those guys don’t inspire a great deal of confidence in terms of consistency. Thus, it stands to reason that the Colts would want to upgrade at the position.

With their first round selection in this seven-round mock draft, the Colts do just that with the pick of DK Metcalf out of Ole Miss. Though Indy has a No. 1 guy in Hilton, Metcalf is a prospect that checks every box that you would want in terms of a prototype for that position. He has the size, speed, footwork and athleticism to be an outright playmaker on the outside.

Though Metcalf’s neck injury that ended his season is something to keep an eye on as he goes through medical testing, the Ole Miss product is young and has seemingly limitless potential. If Luck and Reich can further his development moving forward, he has All-Pro receiver potential and is well worth a first-round pick.
