OT Ja’wuan James

It is not a shock to anyone that Seattle is in desperate need of some help up front and around Russell Wilson. Former first-round picks Germain Ifedi and DJ Fluker have not panned out, and veterans JR Sweezy and Justin Britt are barely serviceable starters. In total, outside of Duane Brown, who has been quite good at left tackle for the Seahawks, the rest of the line graded out at a dismal 51.1 according to Pro Football Focus (subscription required)

With that being said, do not be surprised to see the team use their first rounder, the 21st overall pick, in this year’s draft on an offensive lineman and sign a highly recognized player in free agency as well. Ja’wuan James is a name that they could pursue on the open market.

The former first round pick by the Miami Dolphins has spent all five seasons as the starting right tackle in South Beach, and now appears ready to hit the open market as he has yet to see an offer from the Dolphins to retain his services. He will, however, demand a big payday; expect him to ask from anywhere between $9-11 million annually, as Lane Johnson, the top paid right tackle makes right around $12 million a year.
