2019 NFL Draft: 3 Wide receivers on the rise after NFL Combine
By Cory Kinnan
Andy Isabella, UMass
Despite a glitch in the system, at the end of the day Andy Isabella came out on top. After being clocked at 4.56 seconds in the 40-yard dash, it was determined that the lasers malfunctioned, and Isabella was officially recorded at 4.31 seconds, tied for first with Ohio State product Parris Campbell. With speed being his calling card, it would have been devastating to his draft stock to be clocked in the 4.5s.

Isabella also put up 15 reps on the bench press, impressive given his 5-9, 188-pound frame. He recorded a 34-inch vertical, and 9.75-foot broad jump in addition to his blazing 40-yard dash and quality bench press.
The speedy wideout from University of Massachusetts finished his collegiate career with back-to-back 1,000 yards seasons, hitting nearly 1,700 yards receiving in 2018 and falling 200 yards short in 2016 of making it three straight years with 1,000 yards; Isabella also finished with 30 touchdowns in his career. Though he went to a small school, Isabella torched SEC team Georgia for 219 yards and two scores on 15 catches.
It will be tough to find better production from a wide receiver prospect in this class that competes with that of Isabella’s. Projected as a late Day 2/early Day 3 pick before the NFL Combine, it would not be a surprise to hear the speedster’s name be called in the second round after a strong performance in Indianapolis.
