Tre Boston, S

The safety position was a dumpster fire for the Chiefs last season. Eric Berry missed most of the year with a heel injury and the rest of the secondary struggled mightily to make up for his absence.

The free agent market is deep at the safety position this year, giving the Chiefs many interesting potential targets at an obvious position of need. Earl Thomas and Landon Collins stand out as obvious fit if the team wants to spend big, and I would not be surprised to see them attack the position in the draft. However, if they look to add a more under-the-radar free agent safety, Tre Boston stands out as the perfect option.

Boston hits the open market again this off season, after spending the 2018 season with the Arizona Cardinals. He was a consistent force on the Cardinals defense, showing big-time playmaking ability on the back end.

Boston is an extremely quick and rangy safety who has shown the ability to make plays all over the field. He is an aggressive player who is probably best suited playing downhill and in the box, knifing through would-be blockers to make a play on the ball carrier.

His coverage skills are a bit inconsistent, but Boston has a knack for making a play on the ball, proved by his 11 career interceptions throughout his five-year career with inconsistent playing time. He can hold his own on the back-end as a deep safety and shows solid overall man-to-man skills.

Simply put, Boston is a talented and versatile safety who could make a big impact for Kansas City at a major position of need. He is an obvious target for this team as they look to rebuild a defense that needs a lot of help.
