NFL Mock Draft 2019: Raiders, Packers have new needs after free agency
By Cory Kinnan
This pick makes way too much sense not to happen. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have potentially lost two linebackers this offseason as Kwon Alexander signed a healthy four-year deal with the 49ers, and third-year linebacker Kendell Beckwith may never be healthy enough to set foot on the gridiron again after injuring his ankle in a car accident last offseason and missing the entire 2018 season.
In a linebacker class where it is Devin White, Devin Bush, and everyone else, the Buccaneers make a move for White and put him in the pewter and red. Especially after his performance at the combine, White is set to be a hot commodity by the time April rolls around.
White ran a blazing 4.42-second 40-yard dash, and followed it up by ranking in the 80th percentile in the 20-yard shuttle; without a doubt, White is explosive. While his tape shows that he is fairly raw at the linebacker position, Tampa Bay has one of the best defensive minds in Todd Bowles that could mold the LSU linebacker into one of the best for years to come.
Immediately filling the void left by the departing Alexander, the Buccaneers snag White with the fifth overall pick and add an explosive heat seeker to the middle of their defense.
