Washington Redskins: 7-Round 2019 NFL mock draft lands mid-round quarterback
By Randy Gurzi
Round 1, Pick 15: Rashan Gary, DL, Michigan
With their first pick, the Washington Redskins add some beef to their front seven by selecting Rashan Gary out of Michigan. Gary is more of a projection pick than anything because his numbers for the Wolverines don’t really jump off the page.

His best season came in 2017 when he had 58 tackles and 5.5 sacks, but he went backward in each category as a junior. Even so, he’s seen as an early day one pick due to his tremendous athleticism — which was on full display during the NFL Scouting Combine.
Despite being 6-4 and 277 pounds, Gary was able to break the 4.6-second mark in the 40-yard dash as he hit 4.58. He also proved he’s got the kind of strength desired for a defensive lineman as he put up 26 reps in the bench press. Even with his good numbers for the press, it was the agility and burst he showed in every drill that makes Gary such an intriguing prospect.
For the Redskins, he likely lines up as an end in their three-man line which could give them a whole new dimension on defense. Already an underrated unit, adding a player with his ability could push them into the discussion for a top 10 defense.
