This past season, a total of 13 different players combined for the Tennessee Titans’ 39 sacks. Defensive lineman Jurrell Casey led the way with seven quarterback traps, followed by linebackers Jayon Brown (6), Harold Landry and Wesley Woodyard (4.5 each) and cornerback Logan Ryan (4).

Defensive coordinator Dean Pees attacked opposing quarterback from all directions. It’s worth mentioning that Woodyard and Brown are inside linebackers who also finished 1-2 on the club in total tackles.

As previously mentioned, outside linebackers Derrick Morgan and Brian Orakpo are now unemployed and retired, respectively. The former played in 13 games in 2018 and made 12 starts. But he managed only 25 tackles and one-half sack. In his previous five seasons, the 2010 first-round draft pick racked up a solid 27.5 QB traps. Orakpo played and started 13 contests this past year and finished with just 28 stops and 1.5 sacks.

The free-agent addition of Cameron Wake should help and Landry showed promise as a rookie. But could Pees coax the front office into adding outside linebacker Pernell McPhee?

He spent 2018 with the Redskins and did not record a sack. But prior to signing with the Chicago Bears in 2015, he spent the first four years with Pees in Baltimore. Does the eight-year defender have anything left in the tank?
