Running Back (4)

Ezekiel Elliott, Jamize Olawale, Tony Pollard, Mike Weber

The workhorse for the Dallas Cowboys offense is none other than Ezekiel Elliott. The former No. 4 overall pick has led the league twice in rushing yards already and shows no sign of slowing down. He also took a step forward as a receiver this past season, showing his worth in that regard.

What is true though, is that the team wants to be able to rest him if necessary. That’s why they spent two draft picks on running backs this season, landing Tony Pollard and Mike Weber. Pollard is a do-it-all back who can line up in the backfield, as a receiver, and a return man. He had seven career returns for touchdowns and really made his mark catching the ball out of the backfield for the Tigers.

Weber was Zeke’s replacement when he turned pro and had an up and down career. Overall, Weber is a talented back but likely only sees extended action if Elliott were to be injured for any significant amount of time.

Dallas brought back fullback Jamize Olawale, which seemed a bit surprising. They didn’t really utilize him much last year. Still, they like him enough to retain him and they’re not doing that just to cut him in camp.
