Head coach Pete Carroll and general manager John Schneider are implementing quite a plan for their team. Will it pay off for the Seattle Seahawks in 2019?

Over the last week or so, the defending Super Bowl champion New England Patriots have been busy adding some veteran players to their roster. And across the country in the Pacific Northwest, the Seattle Seahawks have been business of a similar sort.

There was the recent news regarding the team bringing in former Detroit Lions’ first-round draft choice Ziggy Ansah. The Seahawks signed him to a one-year deal but the timetable for him to take the field this season remains up in the air.

The six-year pro is still recovering from a shoulder issue that limited him this past season. The 2015 Pro Bowler played in just seven games and managed four sacks but when healthy, he provides a team with heat off the edge.

But the addition of Ansah has been followed by a slew of other under-the-radar signings the last day or so.

Pete Carroll’s team club has added cornerback Jamar Taylor (Denver Broncos), center/guard Marcus Martin (Dallas Cowboys), fullback Nick Bellore (Detroit Lions) and defensive tackle Al Woods (Indianapolis Colts) to the roster. It’s been impressive to watch how general manager John Schneider and the organization has revamped this club over the last two weeks alone.

Roughly 10 days before this year’s draft, quarterback Russell Wilson was looking for a new deal, defensive end Frank Clark was unsigned and under the franchise tag and the Seahawks had just four draft choices at their disposal.

Since then, the team’s field commander has a new deal, Clark was dealt to the Kansas City Chiefs, Schneider wound up selection 11 players in the draft and the team added the aforementioned five veterans.

There are so many different ways to build an NFL team these days. The Seattle Seahawks’ recent creativity has been impressive to watch. Will all these moves reap dividends in 2019? It’s very difficult to bet against a franchise that has reached the playoff six of the past seven seasons.
