5. S Eric Berry

Even though Eric Berry is past the age of 30, his leadership and veteran presence in the locker room would be invaluable. One of the best safeties of the past decade, Berry tore his Achilles in the Kansas City Chiefs’ 2017 season-opener against the New England Patriots. Since then, he’s only appeared in three games. In the two games Berry appeared in last year, he logged 11 tackles. He has 14 interceptions, 51 passes defensed and 448 total tackles over his nine-year career.

It’s more than likely Berry’s best days are behind him, but the Packers should still at least inquire about his services. Given the current market for safeties, he likely wouldn’t be too expensive and he wouldn’t need to compete for starter reps with Adrian Amos slated to be the team’s starting strong safety.

More than anything, Berry would be a fantastic mentor and on-field coach for the Packers’ secondary. The five-time Pro Bowler and three-time first-team All-Pro’s wisdom and knowledge of the game would help bring along first-round rookie Darnell Savage, who figures to be a huge contributor in 2019.

If the Packers do elect to bring in Berry for a visit, it’d likely happen before training camp. Because he’s already waited this long into the offseason, it stands to reason Berry probably wants to wait for the right situation and take his time.
