You have to go back to the early part of this century to find a team that managed to win the NFC East at least two years in a row. The Philadelphia Eagles, led by head coach Andy Reid, managed to turn that trick four consecutive years from 2001-04. Along the way, the team also reached the conference title game each of those seasons and manage to secure a berth in Super Bowl XXXIX in 2004.

Of course, the Dallas Cowboys are the reigning division champions. In fact, Jason Garrett’s squad has won the NFC East three of the past five seasons, finishing 12-4 in 2014, 13-3 two years later and 10-6 in 2018. But you have to go back way back to last century (1992-96) to find the last time the ‘Boys won this division at least two years in a row. And you have to travel back more than 10 years (2006 and 2007) to find the last time “America’s Team” went to the playoffs two straight seasons.

Unfortunately, the failure to repeat as NFC East champions in recent years is one of many notable droughts for a franchise that hasn’t reached the NFC title game not the Super Bowl since 1995.

Can the club, which overcame a 3-5 start this past year to finish 10-6, carry some of that second-half momentum into 2019? Will the Cowboys return to the playoffs for a second straight year? Are they primed to repeat as NFC East champions? Can they reach Super Bowl LIV in South Florida? There’s certainly an opportunity here.
