New York Jets: Early game-by-game predictions for 2019
Oct. 21 vs. New England
Brady and company come to MetLife for Monday Night Football. The Jets have not beaten the Pats since a thrilling 26-20 overtime victory in Dec. 2015. That ineptitude stops here. Brady finishes with two touchdown passes but Darnold outduels him with 323 yards and three scores (two to Robby Anderson) to lift Gang Green to a 30-27 triumph. Through six contests, the Jets are 3-3.

Oct. 27 at Jacksonville
Trips to northern Florida are never easy when you battle a Jaguars squad known for their physical, aggressive defense. Defense will be the overwhelming theme of this game as the Jags hold Darnold to 148 yards passing and force three interceptions. Leonard Fournette is actually healthy for this contest and he rambles for 85 yards and a touchdown to power Jacksonville to a hard-fought 16-6 victory.
Nov. 3 at Miami
Gang Green continues their swing through the Sunshine State to take on an old AFL rival. The Fins have captured the last three of the series but the Jets still lead overall, 54-52-1.
Miami, like the Jets, is rebuilding presently but the Dolphins have an underrated halfback in Kenyan Drake, who averaged 4.5 yards per carry in 2018 and added 53 receptions for 477 yards. He tallied nine touchdowns in all. This will be an emotional game for Gase as he faces his former club for the first time. Le’Veon Bell gets the better of Drake with 145 total yards from scrimmage as the Jets edge Miami, 20-17.
Nov. 10 vs. Giants
The green and white return home to meet Big Blue, a matchup that occurs every four years during the regular season. Will Daniel Jones be the starting quarterback for the G-Men in this one? Whether he is or not, the Jets have to focus on stopping star halfback Saquon Barkley, which won’t be easy. This shapes up as a battle between two of the best running backs in the NFL. Barkley rushes for 120 yards but Bell gets 132 in an exciting 31-27 Jets triumph.
Nov. 17 at Washington
The last time the Jets played in Washington was in 2011, a 34-19 win. The Redskins, 7-9 a year ago, are another squad trying to rebuild and compete for a playoff berth at the same time. Veteran quarterback Case Keenum should start for the Skins as rookie Dwayne Haskins waits for his opportunity. The Jets intercept Keenum twice and sack him five times (two by Leonard Williams) as Gregg Williams’ unit shines in a 18-6 Gang Green win.
