What to expect

If Treadwell cracks a roster spot, he did something right this summer. The Vikings have a handful of options in place of Treadwell if they want to move on. Fans are displeased. The team has found success without him. While a lot of people are quick to write Treadwell off, I am here to voice the other side. Laquon Treadwell deserves a chance in 2019.

I’m not one to throw out excuse after excuse for a player who continually struggles. However, I would like to offer this: Treadwell has had no stability at the NFL level.

Kirk Cousins was the fifth quarterback that Treadwell played with in Minnesota. Cousins is also the only to play an entire 16-game season under center during Treadwell’s tenure. Not surprisingly, that was also Treadwell’s best season of his career.

Cousins returns in 2019, giving the offense a sense of continuity for the first time in a while.

Treadwell is also working with his fourth offensive coordinator in as many seasons. His rookie season saw a change midseason, as did his third year. Kevin Stefanski returns as the offensive coordinator after a brief stint in the role last year. This will be the first year that Treadwell has had any sort of stability in the offense.
