Jacksonville Jaguars training camp: Storylines, camp battles and expectations

Notable Additions and Departures
Jacksonville decided to part ways with their starting quarterback since 2014, Blake Bortles. Many of the fans were begging and pleading for the team to do that a few years ago. His contract will cost Jacksonville $16.5 million in dead money, which is charged to their salary cap.

Nick Foles gets his chance to be the face of the franchise after being a backup in Philadelphia. He earned a Super Bowl ring (and MVP honors for his efforts) by leading Philadelphia to victory over New England in Super Bowl LII.
T.J. Yeldon and Carlos Hyde have been replaced by Alfred Blue and Thomas Rawls in the Jaguars backfield. The running back production was minimal in 2018. Most of all, new offensive coordinator John DeFilippio will install a new offensive scheme that fits his roster.
Defensively, Malik Jackson will play in Philadelphia now after being released early in the offseason. Tashaun Gipson has signed to play with Houston. Telvin Smith has indicated that he will not play football this season.
First-round pick Josh Allen is a promising talent at defensive end. Jawaan Taylor could make a push to be the starting right tackle as well. Perhaps Jacksonville has found a pass catching tight end in third-round pick Josh Oliver.
Dave Caldwell has upgraded the talent pool of the roster. Adding Foles was like hitting the gold mine mother lode. Caldwell drafted very well in filling in glaring holes on both sides of the ball.
