The Arizona Cardinals surely hope they don’t once again have the No. 1 pick in the NFL Draft, but that’s the case in this mock. For those wondering why, we simply use our previous NFL Power Rankings to determine the order.

As for the Cards, they’re in the midst of not only rebuilding, but they’re completely overhauling their entire system. After five years of Bruce Arians being on the sideline, they decided to hire former Carolina Panthers defensive coordinator Steve Wilks to replace him.

More from NFL Spin Zone

Wilks struggled in his first season as a coach and was fired afterward — although the roster surely had more to do with the struggles than he did. In his place now is Kliff Kingsbury who was an offensive innovator at Texas Tech.

Kingsbury then spearheaded one of the biggest moves as they drafted Kyler Murray despite having Josh Rosen on the roster, who they had just taken at No. 10 overall in 2018.

Fast forward to this draft, and now the Cards decide to go after someone who can get after their opponent’s quarterback. That selection ends up being Chase Young, the 6-foot-5, 265-pound defensive end. He took the reins of top edge risher when Nick Bosa decided to call it a career and train for the NFL last season and was even better than expected.

Should he continue to build on the great success he had in 2018, he could very well be the first overall pick. Especially if the team drafting already has their franchise quarterback in place.
