2. D.K. Metcalf, WR

We all know how physically gifted D.K. Metcalf is, but there were some viable questions asked about his true skills this offseason. The hype around Metcalf fell off slightly since his fantastic combine performance, as shown by Metcalf falling into the second round of the draft. However, Metcalf’s fall has been beneficial for both Metcalf and the Seahawks.

More from NFL Spin Zone

While everyone expected Tyler Lockett to appear as Seattle’s best receiver while Metcalf and the other young receivers got adjusted to the NFL, Metcalf was terrific on Sunday. The Ole Miss product was targeted six times. Only Chris Carson, who was targeted seven times, saw more passed come his way.

Metcalf made four receptions for 89 yards and his longest catch was 42 yards. In comparison, Lockett was targeted just twice, and he caught one ball for a 44-yard touchdown.

Seahawks fans must be excited to see Metcalf make such an immediate impact. There was a lot of hope that he would help fill the void left by Doug Baldwin, and he did just that on Sunday. It’s only been one week, but Metcalf has now shown he’s capable of shouldering a good chunk of the offense.

We’ll see how he handles himself against the Pittsburgh Steelers’ defensive backs next week.
