5. The offensive line as a whole
Okay, so this isn’t just one player, but it’s tough to choose a player from this unit when they all need to work together to have success.

Yes, Trubisky had his struggles. However, there were too many times when he ran around because the line blocking broke down. Additionally, there were just too many penalties committed. They committed two holding penalties (they committed just 12 all season last year) and an illegal use of hands penalty that bogged down drives. They also allowed five sacks in the game.
Daniel Jones had a less than stellar start at center. He gave up some pressure in the middle, but more importantly, he had trouble with assignments. He didn’t make the adjustments before the snap he needed to make and that caused the Green Bay Packers defense to put pressure on Trubisky. He needs to do a better job in his second game or the coaches might need to reconsider the position change they made between Daniels and Cody Whitehair.
Charles Leno, who committed two of the three penalties, needs to get back to his 2018 form. Kyle Long, the locker room leader on the team, needs to show some of that leadership on the field. He needs to do what he can to keep the line’s continuity.
The line is better than what it showed. In order for Trubisky to succeed in the way the team feels he could, he needs protection. If he gets that protection, we’ll get a better version of the offense.
