Stud: Gardner

Gardner Minshew is becoming more impressive with each time he takes the field — in addition to becoming a cult hero among sports fans as well. He’s clearly not going to be a gunslinger that chucks the ball 30 yards down the field with every throw but the Washington State product is also showing without a doubt that he can be an effective NFL quarterback.

More from NFL Spin Zone

The sixth-round rookie moved the ball incredibly well on Thursday, going 20-of-30 for 204 yards and two touchdowns. Furthermore, he looked impressive in avoiding pressure and creating plays with his legs. Who knows what the future holds for Minshew and, as a sixth-rounder, he still has a lot left to prove. However, what he’s shown to start his career is undeniably head-turning.

Stud: The Defensive Front

For much of the night, it looked as if the Titans offensive line might as well have not shown up in Jacksonville. The Jaguars were unbelievably disruptive in regards to their pass rush, looking like the Sacksonville of old. Calais Campbell finished with three sacks and five QB hits, Josh Allen notched two sacks and three QB hits, Dawuane Smoot also had two sacks and even Taven Bryan got involved with a sack.

All told, the Jaguars earned nine sacks of Marcus Mariota on Thursday night to pick up the victory. Whenever the defensive front seven of Jacksonville plays that well and disrupts the opposing offense so often, they are a tough team to beat. Subsequently, they hope to see more performances like the one from Week 3 moving forward.
