5. Jason Witten gets back in the end zone

While the Saints are without a future Hall of Fame player in Drew Brees, the Cowboys will have one on the field who missed last season’s showdown. Tight end Jason Witten retired ahead of the 2018 season in order to pursue a career in broadcasting.

He wasn’t Hall of Fame-caliber in that job and at 37-years of age, he decided to come back to the field. Of course, there were questions about what he brought to the table given his age and the time off, but so far he’s been a great presence for the team.

Witten scored a touchdown in each of the first two games and in Week 3, he converted a third-and-20 when he found an opening in the Miami defense for a 33-yard reception — his longest play since 2016.

The snaps for Witten have been down from what he used to get, but his effectiveness is as good as ever. Entering Week 4, he has 10 receptions on 12 targets with 94 yards and the two scores. He could add to that this week as the Saints defense showed some issues when trying to cover the tight end last week.

Seattle’s Will Dissly ended up hauling in six of seven targets for 62 yards and a touchdown. Witten won’t receive the same number of targets as Dissly, but he will be utilized in the red zone. Look for him to capitalize on that and find a way into the end zone for his third touchdown of the young season.
