Running Backs

Jaylen Samuels, Pittsburgh Steelers (19.2 percent owned)

Even with James Conner having his best game of the 2019 season, Jaylen Samuels showed that he’s going to have value in the Mason Rudolph led offense. The backup running back had just 26 yards on 10 carries but found the end zone. More importantly, though, he registered eight receptions for 57 yards. In PPR leagues, he should be a passing game factor and needs to be added off the waiver wire.

More from NFL Spin Zone

Ronald Jones, Tampa Bay Buccaneers (41.2 percent owned)

It was a little bit rocky there in Week 2 for fantasy owners buying in on Ronald Jones but he’s bounced back with strong workloads the past two weeks. He had 14 carries for 80 yards and a 41-yard reception in Week 3 then had 19 carries for 70 yards and a touchdown with a 12-yard catch in Week 4. He seems to have established himself as a viable start at running back and should be added.

Ito Smith, Atlanta Falcons (9.0 percent owned)

While Ito Smith scored in Week 4 to give him double-digit points in fantasy football, he’s far from a reliable start right now given the lack of workload. However, he’s worth keeping an eye on given the current situation with the Falcons offense.

Devonta Freeman has been bad this season and has been injury-prone throughout his career. Should Atlanta look to change things up moving forward or should Freeman go down, Smith has the chops to produce in fantasy and be worth a stash right now in case that happens.
