5. Gabriel Davis, WR, UCF

On the surface, this isn’t a competitive matchup. When you look deeper there’s a chance the UCF Knights destroy the Cincinnati Bearcats on Friday night. Part of the reason is the UCF iron man at wide receiver, Gabriel Davis. Davis stepped onto the scene as a true freshman in 2017 and never looked back.

Here we are in 2019 and he’s shown why he was the go-to guy for McKenzie Milton prior to his injury. He provides the same reliability to a greater extent for freshman sensation Dillon Gabriel. This season, he’s putting up jaw-dropping numbers. He’s averaging 20 yards per catch and his eight touchdowns (and counting) are a career-best. Oh yeah, he’s doing it at 6-3, 220 pounds.

Davis plays to his size and excels vertically, winning with length and positioning. It doesn’t hurt that he has the speed to eat up cushion thanks to his stride length. Davis is a red zone target with the size and speed to fit into any offense. One of the low-key best things about Davis’ game is his willingness and ability to block.

If you haven’t watched Davis work his magic, this is the week to do it. Even in a loss against Pittsburgh, Davis dominated with 10 catches, 151 yards and two scores. Don’t tune in late on Friday — Davis will likely get work early and often since he’ll find himself relaxing in the fourth quarter.
