Stud: Hooper and Jones

Another stud showing for a pair of Atlanta Falcons on Sunday afternoon came from Austin Hooper and Julio Jones. Both Hooper and Jones put together strong performances in the contest for the Falcons, resulting in both of them hauling in over 100 yards through the air within the Atlanta offensive unit.

Hooper tallied a team-high and game-best 117 yards and one touchdown on eight receptions and eight overall targets, while Jones managed to record 108 yards through the air on eight catches and a team-most nine targets.

Hooper and Jones have been two key pieces to what Atlanta has been able to accomplish on the offensive end of the field through six weeks so far in 2019, and they both played a large role once again in Week 6 against Arizona.

Dud: First-half defense

The second dud for Atlanta on Sunday evening was the Falcons’ defense in the opening half of the game. Through six weeks of play so far this year, Atlanta has experienced the common theme of falling behind an opponent and be forced to try and play catch-up for the remainder of the contest. In Week 6, that was once again the case.

Following a strong showing in the first quarter, while limiting the Cardinals to just three points to hold a 7-3 lead after one frame, the Falcons allowed Arizona to go off for 17 points to gain a 10-point lead going into halftime in Arizona. That was enough for Atlanta to fall behind early on and ultimately fall on the road while not being able to catch up for the rest of the game.
