EDGE. Atlanta Falcons. Vic Beasley. 3. player. 44.

Looking at his production over the past couple of seasons, Vic Beasley looks to be a bust. The eighth overall pick in the 2015 NFL Draft, Beasley broke out as a sophomore with 15.5 sacks and six forced fumbles. That came during the same season the Dirty Birds were able to make it to the Super Bowl, where they had the worst let-down of all-time, giving up a 28-3 lead.

Since then, they’ve fallen off as a team and Beasley has struggled as well. He had just five sacks in both the 2017 and 2018 seasons and has only 1.5 in the first six games this year.

It’s easy to look at that and write Beasley off, but he does still have some talent. He’s quick off the edge and can generate pressure, even if he’s not going to ever return to the elite form he had in 2016.

For the Bills, he wouldn’t need to do that. Their defense is already exceptional but they haven’t recorded many sacks — they have just 12 in their first five games. They’ve also had more production from the inside than on the edge, with defensive tackle Jordan Phillips leading the way with four sacks.

Beasley could possibly be added for a mid-round draft and that would be well worth the talent he possesses — even if they do only use him as a third-down rushing specialist. The risk is also minimal as he’s in the final season of his contract, meaning they could simply let him walk if he doesn’t fit their system.
