3. James White

The first player that is going to have to step up and shine on Monday night for the New England Patriots against the New York Jets is Patriots running back James White. Over the course of the past few weeks, White has been involved a large amount within the Patriots offense, but not necessarily how we’ve been used to seeing him involved alongside Tom Brady and company.

Although he is a running back and is a solid pairing next to Sony Michel in the backfield for New England, White has been more involved in the passing game out of the backfield for the defending champions so far this season.

Another example of that was in last week’s win over the New York Giants to help the Patriots improve to 6-0 on the year.

In that game against New York in Foxborough, White finished the game with just two carries on the ground, tallying -1 yards in the running game. In the passing game, however, White tallied nine catches for 46 yards, averaging 5.1 yards per reception for New England.

It will be interesting to see how White continues to be included in the mix of the offensive flow within the Patriots offense on Monday night against the Jets and for the rest of the season. Even if it’s not on the ground, White has made his impact for New England through the air in the passing game.
