Josh Rosen, Miami Dolphins

Okay, I feel bad for Josh Rosen. He got a raw deal in Arizona. He was stuck with an awful team and when they changed coaches, instead of getting a chance to compete, he was just shipped away to the Miami Dolphins.

In Miami, he again is getting the short end of the stick. He’s on another horrible team, except this one is worse than what he had in Arizona. Bad is too soft of a word to describe the offensive line. The receivers have difficulty getting open and running routes aren’t their forte.

While Rosen’s numbers aren’t good, he hasn’t been bad himself. He is the victim of the drops. His receivers have trouble catching the ball, including several passes in the end zone. Rosen got the starting job in Week 3 of the season. He started three games but then got benched again. Getting benched a second time pretty much signals the idea that the Dolphins don’t have him in their future plans.

Picking Rosen up would be a non-expensive option. He is owed just about $640,000 for the rest of this season and just about $2.1 million in 2020 and $2.3 million in 2021.

Rosen might or might not be the answer as a starter. He deserves a shot at the job. Let’s see what he can do in this offense. Even if he isn’t the answer as a starter, he’d be a terrific replacement for Chase Daniel as an inexpensive backup. Daniel earns $6 million this season and then becomes a free agent. They need someone to replace him and Rosen could be had for less money and more time.

After two seasons playing with horrible teams, Rosen deserves a chance to show what he could do on a real team.
