Los Angeles Rams

The Los Angeles Rams were one of the shining stars in the NFL last season. Sean McVay was rolling with his 21-personnel offense and was crushing it both with his passing and rushing attack. Things have been a bit different in the 2019 season than in the previous two years, though.

Currently sitting in third place in the NFC West with a 4-3 record, the Rams have fallen well short of expectations this season. It’s not a bad record for most teams but it’s certainly worse than many thought the defending NFC champions would deliver to start the year. One noticeable difference between this iteration of the Rams and those of the past two seasons is the offensive line play.

Left tackle Andrew Whitworth showed no signs of his age previously but that has since changed in 2019. Meanwhile, the Rams took another big hit in losing Rodger Saffold, who was a key piece of their line last season. In his place, Joseph Noteboom has been anything but good. Meanwhile, right tackle Rob Havenstein has been another weak spot in this group.

The Rams are in desperate need of an upgrade on their offensive line in any form, and adding Trent Williams could be that upgrade they are looking for. Williams’ potential arrival would immeasurably help this Los Angeles offense. He could open up the run game but, more importantly, would give Jared Goff more peace of mind when he drops back, something he hasn’t had for much of this season.
