Getting Healthy

Having the bye week at this point in the season is surely a blessing for Philly. They have a week to get healthy which is definitely needed. The injury report for the Eagles has been crowded with players and this week off allows them to heal and start taking names off of that list.

The secondary, which has been a travesty, should be back healthy and ready to roll after the week off. Jalen Mills has had an immediate impact since returning from the foot injury that had him out for over a year. Ronald Darby also gave the secondary some life after recovering from a hamstring injury. Both players have brought experience and stability to an Eagles secondary that has been torched during their absences.

Offensively, Jason Peters‘ knee injury hopefully has healed after the bye and he can be inserted into the lineup again. Darren Sproles returned to game action against the Chicago Bears after nursing a quad injury and now has another week to rest and recover.

The bad news is that they lost veteran wideout DeSean Jackson for the season, but he only played in one full game anyway. The abdominal injury he suffered earlier in the season has kept him sidelined for weeks, and he re-injured it against the Bears. Nevertheless, the week off gives many other nicked up players time to heal and prepare for the last seven games.

With the team at full strength, Philly is going to be a scary team to end the season. The talent on the team is there, but the injury bug has bitten this team hard. The rest and recovery they will benefit from this week should work in their favor, along with their favorable schedule.
