Another quiet stud on the Cowboys defensive line is Antwaun Woods, the big nose tackle who they landed after he was waived by the Tennessee Titans in 2018. An undrafted free agent out of USC, Woods excels at stuffing the run — which is exactly what the Cowboys want him to do.

Listed at 6-foot-1 and 318-pounds, Woods is a force in the middle of the line. He clogs up lanes and helps this impressive run defense stay competitive. Nothing illustrated that more than when he missed Week 3-5 this season.

Dallas had a terrible time finding consistency in stuffing the run with Woods sidelined — the worst example of this being when Aaron Jones of the Green Bay Packers went off for four touchdowns.

With all this being said, the Cowboys do need better depth here even with Woods back. Ever since Rod Marinelli took over as the defensive coordinator, the nose tackle has been highly undervalued. Dallas should look to add someone in the draft who can elevate the line, but there’s no guarantee that they can get their guy. Or that he will be ready — see Trysten Hill.

In order to protect themselves, they need Woods to remain a member of their roster for at least one more season.
