Last season, the Cowboys used their first pick in the draft on Trysten Hill out of UCF. That was actually a second-round pick as they sent their first to the Oakland Raiders in exchange for Amari Cooper. While the Cooper addition has been great, they’re still waiting to see Hill blossom.

Even if he does, Dallas needs to continue to add depth to the interior of their defensive line. Hill is still an unknown and they could be losing Antwaun Woods and Maliek Collins to free agency in the offseason. With that being the case, they target a big tackle here in Javon Kinlaw out of South Carolina.

Kinlaw is a big man at 6-foot-6 and 302-pounds and continually finds a way into the opposing backfield. He considered going pro after a good junior season but came back and has had a phenomenal senior season. Through his first 10 games, Kinlaw has 27 tackles and 5.5 sacks.

He’s capable of lining up at either defensive tackle position and can even play some strong side defensive end. Of course, this pick might be in jeopardy should the current staff be in place still.

Defensive coordinator Rod Marinelli is a victim of his scheme and might believe Kinlaw doesn’t fit. However, if a good player doesn’t fit your system, the problem is not the player. Dallas would be foolish to avoid adding a talent like this should he be on the board when they pick.
