3. Jeffrey Okudah, CB, Ohio State

In today’s NFL, passing offenses are king. So in order to counter that, teams and specifically defenses need cornerbacks who can cover the increasing number of top-tier wide receivers and quarterbacks. Ohio State’s Jeffrey Okudah could be the guy who could deliver on what teams want and need in a cornerback.

Okudah had high expectations entering this season and, boy, did he deliver on them. Okudah has nice length and good size at 6-1, 200 pounds. Additionally, he is also a great athlete who can stick with receivers in their hip pockets in press coverage. Even though Okudah is a bigger-sized corner, he also has great balance. However, Okudah can also excel in zone coverage as well.

If there’s one area where Okudah struggles, it’s with his overall ball skills in coverage. He occasionally won’t attack the ball well and has lost at the catch point on a few occasions throughout his time with the Buckeyes. Even if he isn’t talented at attacking the catch point, he remains the most talented cornerback in the 2020 NFL Draft class.

This draft class is loaded with receivers and no NFL team can be short on cornerbacks, especially with the prevalence of nickel defensive packages. Thus, Okudah is a player that should be valued highly and can make an immediate impact at the next level.
