5. Matt Patricia

First off, the argument can be made that if Matthew Stafford were healthy, Matt Patricia most likely wouldn’t be in this current position since the last month or so has forced the Detroit Lions to roll with Jeff Driskel and David Blough.

However, it should be noted that Detroit has lost every game from their five-game losing streak by single digits, showing this argument is tough to make when the Lions have actually been in games.

Dating back to his first season in 2018, the whole reason Patricia was brought on board was to help the Lions make the leap again to becoming a top contender in the NFC.

This appeared to be the case early on after Detroit got off to a hot start in September, but the team’s 3-8-1 record entering Week 14 shows what kind of year it’s been for the Lions.

Due to the circumstances at quarterback, Patricia’s job will most likely be safe for at least another year, but since anything is possible when it comes to the NFL, nothing is guaranteed.

Maybe if Patricia helps the Lions end 2019 on a high note, this will help the organization feel better about their head coach heading into the offseason.
