Stud: Mike Williams

Every game, it seems as though wide receiver Mike Williams has been able to make at least one acrobatic grab. And this game was no different. In addition to making nice catches, Williams also earned his second touchdown of the season off an 11-yard grab. After finally earning his first touchdown of the season last week against the Jaguars, Williams ensured he’d keep the streak going.

Unfortunately, after an excellent first half, Williams only made a single reception thereafter. While he was targeted a number of times throughout the game, they were missed opportunities as a result of miscalculated throws by Philip Rivers.

Alas, it’s great to Williams finally getting into the end zone in consecutive weeks.

Stud: Melvin Ingram

Although he didn’t earn any sacks (and neither did any of his teammates), Melvin Ingram still showed that he knows other ways to impact the game. During the second quarter, recognizing a screen pass play from Kirk Cousins, Ingram leaned backward to make the interceptions, the second of his career. Ingram remains a player who makes impact plays at any point in time during a game.

Although the defense couldn’t contain the Vikings’ offense, it was a strong effort by Ingram, and both his style and this very play are just further proof as to why he is considered by many as the heart of the Chargers’ defense.
