3. Patriots defense will rise up again

Entering Week 17, the New England defense continues to be one of the best defensive units throughout the entire league, with the Patriots ranking near the top of the NFL in numerous categories.

More from NFL Spin Zone

New England has given up an average of 268.3 total yards per game to this point in the season, which is the best mark in the league. The Patriots also rank first in points given up per game (13.2), while giving up an average of 97.7 rushing yards per game (ranks seventh in the league) and 170.7 passing yards per contest (ranks second in NFL).

Another strong area that New England has thrived in on the defensive side of the ball is the fact that it has been able to force opponents into turning the ball over up to this point in the year, leading the league in total interceptions going into Week 17. While Miami has shown a little bit of life in the passing game, the Patriots secondary is more than capable of stifling them.

There are many aspects to this Patriots defensive group that makes them one of the more threatening and dominant units in the entire NFL. And on Sunday in Foxborough, they will once again put that on display while taking on the Dolphins.
