New York Jets: 3 Things at top of 2020 offseason to-do list
2. Get a stud wide receiver
Whether through the draft or free agency, the Jets need to secure a stud wide receiver. Easier said than done, I know.
Robby Anderson is an unrestricted free agent and very well could have played his last game in the green and white. The lanky speedster improved his route tree last season but let’s face it, on a very good team he is no more than a No. 2 receiver, perhaps even a No. 3. The Jets need to land that No. 1 wide receiver for Darnold to throw to.

Possibilities abound, Gang Green owns seven draft picks in the upcoming draft. So if they want to be aggressive early they may be able to get a young stud receiver like Alabama’s Henry Ruggs III or Tee Higgins of Clemson. Both players come with tremendous upside. CeeDee Lamb of Oklahoma may also be available. Any of those performers would give Darnold a top-notch wideout for years to come.
I have a feeling Douglas will draft an offensive lineman with their first-round pick but we’ll see. The Jets could also go the free-agent route and there are a number of elite receivers available.
According to Spotrac, Gang Green has a little over $65 million in salary cap space to work with. Amari Cooper of the Dallas Cowboys is the premier free-agent wide receiver available but other options include Emmanuel Sanders of the 49ers, A.J. Green of Cincinnati and Devin Funchess of the Colts.
Look for Douglas to make a play for Cooper — that would be a fantastic signing for Darnold and the Jets moving forward. Jets fans can only hope.
