Tennessee Titans: 5 Offseason moves to build off playoff success
4. Draft an EDGE rusher
When you look at what the Titans have done recently in terms of their outside linebackers in the 3-4 defense, it’s been a good look. Harold Landry was terrific value in the second round while Cameron Wake was a big-time veteran addition. Meanwhile, guys like Derick Roberson and D’Andre Walker offer quite a bit of promise. Having said that, with Wake’s age and the unproven nature of everyone outside of Landry, they need some help.

The good news for the Titans is that they are in a position where they can kind of pick from the catbird seat in the NFL Draft. They have the luxury of picking best player available or moving around to where they can get the best value. The biggest need is at edge rusher, however, and that’s where they should look with their first-round selection, looking at prospects like Alabama’s Terrell Lewis, Notre Dame’s Julian Okwara and others to help bolster that edge pass rush.
3. Shore up O-line
To be sure, the Titans offensive line was more than effective when at full strength this season. Though he can be a little prone to penalties, Taylor Lewan is one of the most talented tackles in the league, Ben Jones played well at center, Jack Conklin was good at right tackle, Nate Davis showed promise as a rookie guard and Rodger Saffold was a big-time free-agent addition. Having said that, there’s work to do with this group.
After general manager Jon Robinson elected to not pick up Conklin’s fifth-year option, the writing seemed like it might be on the wall for him. And that still may be the case as he now hits free agency.
So as their starting right tackle is no longer under contract, the Titans could look to shore up this group for the immediate future. If they are going to assess Henry further by tagging him, they need to give him (and Tannehill, for that matter) the best possible situation. Keeping the offensive line situation as similar as possible should be a big part of that.
