3. Denzel Mims, WR, Baylor

During the 2019 season, wide receiver was a position of strength for the Cowboys. They had two players over 1,000-yards receiving in Amari Cooper and Michael Gallup. There was also one over 800 yards in Randall Cobb. The problem is, only Gallup is under contract for 2020.

Cooper has continued to say he wants to come back to Dallas, calling it “home.” As for Cobb, it seems likely he could be back considering his working relationship with head coach Mike McCarthy. Up until last season, McCarthy was the only head coach Cobb has ever worked under so he would probably love a reunion.

However, nothing is guaranteed. And even if they do retain them all, the Cowboys saw how quickly that position could get depleted. Both Cobb and Gallup missed time due to injuries in 2019 and Cooper battled quad problems all year. That left them thin whenever one of these players missed time, and the Cowboys would be wise to develop some youth behind them all.

That means they should have been paying attention to Denzel Mims from Baylor, who was on fire and especially stood out on Day 2. He was winning one-on-one battles but also showed off his skill in pulling in contested passes. He’s also a deep threat ready to make a big play at a moment’s notice.

Mims would be a great rotational player early in his career but could develop into a real threat to take over a starting role down the line.
