Tristan Wirfs. 11. player. 30. . Offensive Tackle. New York Jets

Similar to the Cleveland Browns with Baker Mayfield, the New York Jets spent years looking for a quarterback to build the franchise around before finally using a first-round pick on Sam Darnold in 2018.

One can only imagine how different things would have been for the Jets in 2019 if Darnold didn’t miss the beginning of the year with mono, but at least there is plenty of hope for next season.

When taking into consideration that New York ended 2019 as one of the hottest teams in football by winning six of eight games, this should have the Jets beyond excited over what next season could have in store.

But of course, if the Jets are going to have a legitimate shot next season at making the leap to top contender in the AFC, Darnold will need to have the necessary protection, and a few extra weapons to work with on offense.

With this in mind, it’s easy to understand why offense may be New York’s top priority in the first round of the draft, and if they do want to focus on the offensive line, Tristan Wirfs could be the answer they’re looking for.

Wirfs has the kind of mobility and posture that could turn out to be huge for New York’s offensive line heading into the 2020 season. And if Wirfs were to find a way to help provide Darnold with the necessary protection, maybe that playoff hype will take place after all for the Jets.
