4. A.J. Klein

Moving away from the offense, the second player to make the list is A.J. Klein. Since Klein joined the New Orleans Saints in 2017, he’s made a huge impact.

Originally a member of the Carolina Panthers, Klein has a pretty solid career including going to Super Bowl 50. The Panthers ultimately lost but it was a good time for Klein to leave. Upon signing with the Saints, he’s really had a career rejuvenation.

Looking at the past two seasons, in particular, Klein had his two most productive years when he signed with the New Orleans Saints. He played every game in 2018 and only missed one in 2019 due to injury but still made his mark. He finished each season with over 65 total tackles, an interception each season and even, racked up a few sacks.

Despite being one of the older guys in the locker room, he didn’t seem to be showing any signs of rust. It would be fair to say that the team wouldn’t have been as successful defensively without him.

There is always a case to make against a player, though. For Klein, it’s going to be his injury history as he’s dealt with a few. As long as Klein is healthy when the season rolls around, the Saints should re-sign him. The differences he’s made outweigh the possible injury risk. At age 28, Klein still has a lot of time left to play and it would be smart if the Saints keep him.
