3. Daryl Williams, OT

As the term ‘overlooked’ should imply, the names on this list might not wow anyone. That’s certainly the case here with Daryl Williams, but it doesn’t mean adding him is a bad idea. In fact, he’s the exact type of player Dallas could look for.

More from NFL Spin Zone

Williams is a former fourth-round pick who has versatility and starting experience. He was added by the Carolina Panthers in 2015 and spent the past five seasons with them. For the majority of his career, he started at right tackle for them but also has taken snaps at left tackle and guard.

Dallas recently parted with Cameron Fleming, who has been their primary swing tackle the past two seasons. Fleming started six games for the Cowboys as star left tackle Tyron Smith has missed three games in each of the past two seasons. He missed time before that, which led to them starting Chaz Green, which prompted Dallas to spend on a swing tackle.

Williams’ starting experience makes him a great candidate for Dallas and the fact that he’s generating very little buzz could mean that Stephen Jones and the rest of the front office could get exactly what they want — affordable depth.

Even if they don’t land Williams, it would be surprising to see Dallas go into the season without someone that has starting experience. Knowing how often they have been without Smith, they need to make sure they’re covered.
