2020 NFL Mock Draft: Patriots land new QB, 49ers get stud receiver
By Randy Gurzi
It’s hard to see this going any other way. There’s an outside chance someone can blow the Cincinnati Bengals away with a crazy offer, but in reality, there’s probably no offer that will convince them not to take Joe Burrow at No. 1.

The LSU star had what some call the best season in NCAA history — and no one saw it coming. After transferring from Ohio State following the 2017 season, Burrow had a good year for the Tigers as a junior. He completed nearly 58 percent of his passes (which wasn’t great) for 2,894 yards with a 16-to-5 touchdown-to-interception ratio.
Then as a senior, he blew up. Burrow was good on an unbelievable 76.3 percent of his passes for 5,671 yards. He also had 10 times as many touchdowns as picks finishing with 60 touchdowns and six interceptions. Yes, 60 touchdowns.
In addition to his arm talent, Burrow can make it happen with his legs. He ran for 767 yards and 12 touchdowns for LSU in his two seasons.
Cincinnati can use that kind of talent on a team that’s been struggling in recent seasons. They had their run with Marvin Lewis and Andy Dalton but could never win a playoff game. Now Zac Taylor is getting his chance and needs his own quarterback to grow with. There’s no better option for him than BUrrow, which is why it’s hard to see them moving — even if someone throws a Mike Ditka-Ricky Williams trade package.
