5. Jonah Jackson, OG, Ohio State

While fans look to the draft for the next big star, sometimes getting depth help is just as good. Ohio State’s Jonah Jackson isn’t the biggest or most powerful lineman in this draft but he’s a solid player.

Jackson’s pass protection is impeccable. He does a great job of stopping defenders right at the line of scrimmage with his flawless technique. He has quick hands and is super fast to lock onto defenders before they know what hit them.

At the Senior Bowl practices, Jackson played all three interior line positions. Despite having to use different techniques, he won 58 percent of his one-on-one drills.

Jackson does a good job of recognizing stunts and blitzes. He offers a good base, which complements his quick hands. Also, he has good lateral movement and does a good job of blocking at the second level. Jackson needs to improve his run blocking. He gets too tall at times and he has trouble creating leverage.

With his success at the Senior Bowl, Jackson adds great depth along the line. He can give added depth at all three positions, and if he’s needed to play extended time he can be dependable. Who knows, with enough work he could wind up helping the team as a starter.
