Green Bay Packers: Best-case scenario 7-round 2020 mock draft
By Joe Kipp
Having one of the premier receivers in the 2020 NFL Draft fall all the way to No. 30 overall would be a dream scenario for the Packers. LSU’s Justin Jefferson is one of the most gifted receivers in this year’s class. In fact, in other years where the talent pool isn’t as deep, Jefferson may challenge to be the No. 1 receiver overall.

In his junior season in 2019, Jefferson racked up 111 receptions for 1,540 yards and 18 touchdowns en route to a National Championship victory. Against Oklahoma in the College Football Playoff Semifinal, Jefferson recorded 14 receptions for 227 yards and four touchdowns. He was easily Joe Burrow’s favorite target last season.
The Packers have a need for a true slot receiver. Davante Adams recorded his fair share of snaps out of the slot last season, but the team still lacks a bonafide threat over the middle of the field. Jefferson was a zone coverage killer for LSU, a huge reason he finished with 111 catches. Last season, he finished with a contested catch rate of 92.3, according to PFF (subscription required).
At the NFL Scouting Combine, Jefferson impressed with his speed by running 4.43 in the 40-yard dash. Many expected him to be much slower. Overall, Jefferson would step in on Day 1 as a key contributor for Green Bay. If the Packers can get Jefferson at 30th overall, fans should be extremely excited.
