The Packers don’t have a slot cornerback at the moment, mainly due to the fact that the team hasn’t re-signed Tramon Williams. The 37-year-old remains a free agent and there’s no indication he wants to retire. General manager Brian Gutekunst indicated before the 2020 NFL Draft that the Packers would be open to re-signing Williams if the circumstances were right.

If the Packers don’t bring back Williams, which appears to be the most likely scenario at this point, another route the team could take is signing free agent cornerback Logan Ryan. Ryan revealed earlier this week that the Tennessee Titans would not be re-signing him, which means he’s one of the best available players on the open market.

There’s familiarity between Ryan and Packers coach Matt LaFleur, who spent one season in Tennessee as offensive coordinator. Ryan, who began his career with the New England Patriots, signed with the Titans in 2016. He’s never been named to a Pro Bowl, but he’s still one of the better cornerbacks in the NFL.

Over his seven seasons, Ryan has tallied 17 interceptions and 78 passes defensed. He had one of his best seasons in 2019, recording four interceptions, four forced fumbles and 18 passes defensed. Ryan could play in the slot or at right cornerback for the Packers.
