. . . Dwayne Haskins . 32. player. 58

Dwayne Haskins assumed the starting role at Ohio State in 2018 and posted amazing numbers that garnered Heisman votes. During his only collegiate season as a starter, Haskins completed 70.0 percent of his pass attempts for 4,831 yards, 50 touchdowns, and eight interceptions. The Redskins loved what they saw and selected the New Jersey native with the 15th pick in the 2019 NFL Draft.

During his rookie season, Haskins battled with Case Keenum for starting time. While Keenum opened the season, Haskins took over as the starter in Week 9. He made seven consecutive starts before an injury forced him from a Week 16 matchup against the New York Giants.

Haskins looked awful when he initially took over the starting job. He didn’t post a game with a passer rating over 100 until Week 15. Haskins also only posted two games where he threw at least one touchdown and no interceptions. He failed to complete at least 60.0 percent of his pass attempts in four consecutive starts as well.

The Ohio State product did show signs of progress before suffering the ankle injury in Week 16.  In Week 15, Haskins threw for over 250 yards for the first time, and he finished the game with a 121.3 passer rating. When he exited the New York game in the third quarter, Haskins had a 143.2 passer rating.

However, a few late strides don’t erase weeks of poor play. At times, Haskins couldn’t move the ball through the air. His lack of weapons didn’t help either, and the situation looks just as grim this coming season. If Haskins gets off to another poor start, Ron Rivera could put in Kyle Allen. Alex Smith’s continual rehab and Cam Newton’s free agency add extra dimensions to the equation.
