5. Shaq Mason, OL

Madden 21 rating: 86

The first player that broke the top five of Patriots ranked on Madden 21 is New England offensive lineman Shaq Mason. The soon-to-be 27-year-old guard was the fifth-highest Patriots player ranked by the video game, coming in with an overall rating of 86.

Mason, who will enter his sixth season in the NFL and with New England in 2020, received ratings of 72 in speed, 81 in acceleration, 87 in strength, 65 in agility, 89 in awareness, 88 in run blocking, 83 in pass blocking, 82 in jumping ability, 91 in injury, 82 in stamina and 81 in toughness, to list a few attributes.

Over the course of his five-year professional career, Mason has been a reliable player in terms of being able to stay healthy and on the field for the Patriots. Going into 2020, he has missed just five games out of a possible 80 regular-season contests.

In 2019, Mason appeared and started in 15 of the 16 games for the Patriots, playing in 93 percent of the total offensive snaps during that stretch while accounting for just five penalties on the offensive line.

With a new quarterback set to take over the offense for New England in 2020 and beyond following the departure of legendary quarterback Tom Brady this offseason, the Patriots will lean heavily on Mason once again to protect the quarterback and open up holes for the running game throughout the new year.
