Miami Dolphins: 5 Cut candidates sitting on roster bubble
4. Myles Gaskin, RB
Miami had the worst rushing offense in the league last season and, by stats and the eye-test, it wasn’t all that close. They struggled to run the ball with any type of efficacy. Part of that was due to a putrid offensive line but also the lack of talent at running back. Myles Gaskin was a part of that, albeit a small one. Gaskin got 36 carries in seven games played but only had 133 yards and one touchdown on the season.

In free agency and via trade, the Dolphins revamped the running back room this offseason, landing a nice veteran pairing with Jordan Howard and Matt Breida. These two players clearly have the lead on the depth chart, leaving it up to Gaskin, Kalen Ballage, Patrick Laird and Malcolm Perry. For me, Gaskin has the least upside of any of those players, making him a likely candidate to end up on the wrong side of the cut line.
3. Zach Sieler, EDGE
Back in the 2018 NFL Draft, the Baltimore Ravens took Zach Sieler in the seventh round as a flier out of Ferris State. The small-school prospect had enticing athleticism and looked like a project. He spent several weeks on the active roster in Baltimore last season but was waived in December, which is when the Dolphins snatched him up and then re-signed him heading into 2020.
Though his work has been limited to this point, Sieler remains a project. And Miami head coach Brian Flores has clearly invested in veterans on that defensive unit, signing the likes of Shaq Lawson, Kyle Van Noy and Elandon Roberts, among others, in the front seven. With that group not only being more crowded and talented but also with the emphasis on experience, Sieler might be shown the door, even if there’s upside still there.
