Every time a key player is on the trade block, the Patriots always seem to be a fit for that player.

New England might have a decent quarterback situation this year, but Cam Newton is only signed to a one-year deal, so there are no guarantees he’s back next season. Also, he’s 31 years old and has had his fair share of injuries since being drafted No. 1 overall in 2011.

The Patriots seemed confident rolling with Jarrett Stidham this season prior to signing Newton, so he could be their plan post-Newton. It’s hard not to imagine Bill Belichick and Josh Daniels not considering bringing Haskins in via trade because he’s young and has potential, he’s just not with a good organization right now.

New England has three total quarterbacks right now, so the need for Haskins isn’t really prominent this year. The trade would be prepping for 2021 and 2022, which as far as the quarterback position goes, are still up in the air for the Patriots.

It’d be interesting to see Haskins with the Patriots because players who go there tend to straighten up and play by Belichick’s rules. He could give them a legitimate starter for two years too.
